ABOUT

This fall studio is based on an interdisciplinary and collaborative design structure engaging students of three disciplines within the College of Architecture, Planning, and Design (ARCH, IAID, and LA). This forum offers the opportunity for a synergistic, collaborative process where group members will participate in all facets of the design while leading with and expanding on their own accrued areas of expertise and focus. Paralleling professional design modes and project delivery methods, this studio structure will yield an exposure to a wider range of design and technical issues and, as a result, more richly-developed proposals.

Three related studio sections will each focus on a particular Manhattan site and program. The student collaborations will each pursue further programming of aligned uses, specific to their design concepts with an eye towards further engaging the community. Each studio section will be headed by one of the three professors, though each professor will also engage all teams, enhancing the opportunity for cross-disciplinary exposure throughout the semester.
